Marine scientists explore the oceans with highly equipped research vessels, measuring the seabed using acoustic methods and taking sediment and water samples. But how does this all work on a research vessel? How does the equipment get into the water? What kind of laboratories are there? And what happens on the bridge? The virtual 360\u00b0 tour of the German research vessel METEOR allows visitors to explore the research vessel for themselves. They can walk from deck to deck, from the bridge to the engine room, from the laboratories to the cabins of the scientists and crew. The tour gives an insight into how marine research on the ocean works, what technical equipment is used and how observational data is obtained. The footage was taken during the M178 \u2018HazELNUT\u2019 expedition to Europe&#8217;s largest active volcano: Mount Etna.
